El Jadida: an industrial hub, a farming plain and a heritage city

South of El Jadida, the Jorf Lasfar industrial and port complex brings together large phosphate processing plants, energy facilities and an industrial park attracting new investors. Around the city, the irrigated Doukkala plain supports sugar crops, cereals, market gardening and dairy farming. And the Portuguese City of Mazagan, a UNESCO World Heritage site, together with the coastline and its resorts, makes El Jadida a popular seaside destination.

Around the large sites works a dense network of SMEs: mechanical work, boilermaking, electrical and instrumentation, scaffolding, lifting, industrial cleaning and transport. Their daily life is made of jobs ordered by major clients, demanding invoicing files and payments that often arrive well after the work is done.

Industrial subcontracting: every job is a project

In SOGESTIO, a job, a plant shutdown or a maintenance contract becomes a project with its amount, costs and invoicing. Parts purchases, expenses and invoices are attached to it, showing the job's real margin before it is even finished. Technicians often advance costs on site: lodging, meals, small equipment. Each files an expense claim that the manager approves; it is then posted as an expense and marked as reimbursed.

Long payment terms: keep a close eye on cash

For a subcontractor, the main risk is not a lack of work but the gap between wages paid every month and invoices settled weeks later. Days sales outstanding (DSO) per customer, the overdue list and the 13-week cash forecast show that gap in black and white.

Payment terms between businesses are regulated by law 69-21. Be careful with figures and have your terms and reminders checked by your chartered accountant; SOGESTIO then computes each invoice's due date automatically from the chosen terms, 7 to 90 days or custom.

VAT on a cash or accrual basis: a choice that weighs on cash

SOGESTIO prepares the VAT return under the cash-basis regime (encaissement), which is the default regime, or under the accrual regime (débits). Put simply, under the cash basis, output VAT is declared for the period in which the customer pays; under the accrual basis, for the invoicing period.

Example: an invoice of 80,000 DH excluding VAT, so 16,000 DH of VAT and 96,000 DH including VAT, issued in March and paid in June. Under the accrual regime, the 16,000 DH is declared for March, before it has been collected; under the cash regime, for June. The choice of regime and its consequences must be validated with your chartered accountant. SOGESTIO tracks output VAT, input VAT and carried-forward credit, and exports the deductions statement as EDI XML for SIMPL-TVA.

Doukkala and the coast: agri-food, trading and tourism suppliers

Farm input traders, food processing units and distributors in the Doukkala buy in season, store in several warehouses and sell on credit. SOGESTIO manages stock per warehouse with batches, minimum alerts and CMUP valuation, as well as cheques and bills of exchange (LCN) received from customers.

Service providers working for the coast's hotels and residences, laundry, maintenance, landscaping, supplies, often invoice the same customers every month: recurring invoices handle that, and the client portal lets the hotel find its invoices without asking again.

An online service, from the office to the client site

SOGESTIO has no office in El Jadida: it is an online service available anywhere in Morocco, in French, Arabic or English, with remote onboarding. On an industrial site, the site manager checks the job from the Android app or the web app installed on iPhone; if the network is missing, they keep entering expenses, quotes or payments offline, and everything syncs afterwards, with legal invoice numbers assigned by the server.
