Fez, a city of craftsmanship and trade
Morocco's spiritual and cultural capital is also a city of production. Its tanneries and its leather, embroidery, weaving, zellige tile, ceramics and copperware workshops sustain an ancient craft economy that sells to visitors, to shops in other cities and abroad. Around the medina, the new town and industrial zones host retailers, food processing, textile and building material plants, as well as wholesalers supplying the whole region.
Many of these businesses are family-run and passed down through generations, and still keep their books in notebooks. Moving to software only makes sense if it speaks their language, literally: SOGESTIO works fully in Arabic, right to left, as well as in French.
Leather and textile workshops: tracking materials and finished goods
A leather workshop buys hides, linings and accessories, then sells bags, belts or babouche slippers. SOGESTIO follows both sides: supplier orders and goods receipts that bring materials in at net purchase cost, finished items with stock and minimum alerts, and sales from quote to payment.
Example: a Casablanca shop orders 40 bags at 350 DH each excluding VAT. The invoice shows 14,000 DH excluding VAT, 2,800 DH of VAT at 20% and 16,800 DH in total, with the buyer's ICE number and your legal details: ICE, IF, RC, business tax number and bank details.
- Item catalogue with sizes and colours managed as separate items.
- Stock valued at CMUP to see the real margin per product.
- Separate price lists for retail, resellers and export.
- Delivery notes linked to the invoice so nothing goes unbilled.
- Documents issued in Arabic, French or English depending on the customer.
Traders in the medina and the new town
Fez shops that sell to professionals, such as hardware stores, fabric shops, supplies and building materials, need clean invoices and control over the credit given to regular customers. SOGESTIO sets a credit limit per customer and computes the due date from the chosen terms: cash, 30, 60 or 90 days.
Shop expenses are classified by category with their deductible VAT, and the cash book records money in and out. The dashboard shows revenue, margin, unpaid invoices and items below threshold at a glance.
Industrial SMEs: purchasing, payroll and accounting
Industrial SMEs in Fez, in food processing, textiles or building materials, combine regular purchasing, raw material stock and a workforce. The Pro plan brings together purchasing, banking, CGNC accounting and payroll: payslips with CNSS, AMO, IR and seniority, automatic payroll entries and a DAMANCOM preparation file.
Accounting entries are generated with every invoice, purchase and payment, and the financial statements (balance sheet, CPC income statement, ESG) are produced from the same data, ready for review by your accountant.
Regional distribution: supplying Fez, Meknes and nearby towns
Fez acts as a commercial platform for a wide region stretching to Meknes, Taza, Sefrou and Ifrane. A distributor serving these towns often runs a main warehouse and one or more secondary depots. Multi-warehouse stock tracks each site, transfers are logged, and payments by cheque or bill of exchange (LCN) are followed until they are collected.
Sales reps travelling the region check customers and stock from the Android app, on the same data as the office.
Start remotely, at your own pace
SOGESTIO has no office or reseller in Fez: it is an online service usable anywhere in Morocco, and setup is done remotely. A workshop can start on the Starter plan, at 199 DH/month excluding VAT for two users, then move up to Pro as the business grows, without losing any data.
The 14-day free trial needs no card. You can import your customers and items from an Excel file to test with your own data.
