Laayoune: fishing, phosphates, major projects and energy

Laayoune is the main city of Morocco's southern provinces and an important administrative and commercial centre. Its port ranks among the country's major fishing hubs, with freezing units and fishmeal and fish oil plants. The Phosboucraa site mines and exports phosphate from Boucraa, the region hosts wind farms, and the public investment programme under way in the southern provinces drives roads, ports, housing and public facilities.

One entrepreneur, several companies: the Group plan

A construction company, a transport company and a trading company: each has its own customers, numbering, VAT and accounts. With the Group plan, SOGESTIO brings them together on one platform. Each company's data stays isolated, the owner switches between them with a selector, intra-group transactions are tracked and a consolidated view shows the revenue and cash of the whole group.

Example: the transport company hires trucks to the construction company for 60,000 DH excluding VAT over the month. It issues an invoice of 60,000 DH, or 72,000 DH including 20% VAT, in its own numbering; the construction company records it as a purchase and links it to the relevant site. The Group plan costs 990 DH/month excluding VAT with three companies included, and each additional company 249 DH/month.

Construction and major projects: contracts, progress billing and costs

The Projects module records the amount of each contract, then tracks costs, materials, equipment hire, fuel, subcontracting, and invoicing. Example: on a 2,400,000 DH contract excluding VAT, a 15% progress claim represents 360,000 DH, so 72,000 DH of VAT at 20% and 432,000 DH including VAT. The site's margin is visible before the works are handed over.

Payroll for site teams includes CNSS, AMO, IR and seniority, with the DAMANCOM preparation file, and site managers' expense claims, travel and lodging, go through an approval workflow. Payments by cheque or bill of exchange (LCN) are tracked with their due dates in the 13-week cash forecast.

Fishing suppliers and processors

Around the port work suppliers of packaging, ice, equipment and provisions, along with plants that buy daily from many boats. Goods receipts record each delivery at net purchase cost, batches link a production run to its inputs, and stock is tracked per warehouse, from the port to the city depot.

On the sales side, a credit limit per customer and payment terms with computed due dates frame credit sales to boat owners and plants. Export invoices can be issued in English, French or Arabic.

VAT and accounting: set up with care

Businesses in the southern provinces often have questions about the tax regime that applies to their activity. SOGESTIO offers all the usual rates, 20%, 14%, 10%, 7% and exempt, configurable company by company, but it does not decide the regime: have it confirmed by your chartered accountant before any setup, and review it with each finance law.

Once rates are set, SOGESTIO computes VAT line by line, generates entries on the CGNC chart of accounts with each invoice, purchase, payment and payroll run, and produces journals, general ledger, trial balance and financial statements (balance sheet, CPC, ESG), which the accountant can access with a dedicated role.

An online service, all the way to the most remote sites

SOGESTIO has no office in Laayoune: it is an online service usable anywhere in Morocco, in Arabic, French or English, with remote onboarding. On a road project or an isolated site, the works manager uses the Android app or the web app installed on iPhone even without signal: they view data and enter expenses, quotes, draft invoices and payments, which sync when the connection returns, with legal numbers assigned by the server.
